GRAMMY®-nominated producer and musical visionary Benjamin David, known professionally as Mild Minds, announces his sophomore album 'GEMINI,' set for release on February 21st, 2025, via ODESZA's Foreign Family Collective imprint. The announcement of the record arrives in tandem with the release of the album's title track "GEMINI".

Where David's 2020 debut album 'MOOD' represented a creative revelation and risk-taking departure from his behind-the-scenes work, 'GEMINI' emerges as a testament to that artistic leap's rewards. The album references turn-of-the-century underground club music, utilizing breaks, airy pads, and chopped 2000's R&B samples alongside early trance influences and ethereal vocals. This sonic foundation creates an unprecedented dialogue across the album between club-focused elements and melancholic emotions rarely explored in dance music.
The title track "GEMINI" follows the recently released "TEAR DROPS," offering listeners insight into an album that brings together sounds typically confined to club genres and recontextualizes them. Centered around a chopped R&B vocal loop and emotive chords, "GEMINI" pushes forward with a unique linear structure where no section repeats. The track's staggered groove draws from future garage while creating its own distinct identity, resulting in a trance-like forward motion that sets the tone for the album's sonic direction.
On 'GEMINI,' human existence is contrasted with stark digital pads and re-sampled drum breaks, bringing on a sense of humanity in dystopia. This theme extends into the album's visual identity, where stark rooms with transparent digital screens are filled with faded shots of nature—an echo of what once was. The visual campaign's transparent devices and album name serve as a nod to the early 2000s while speaking to our current reality.
"I will say a sophomore album is a sophomore album - it's not something you can run from, so I definitely started to feel those pressures of living up to something again," David foreshadows as he dives into his second album cycle. "But I was constantly removing and reminding myself to have fun through the whole process, being sure not to lose the original intentions the project had. I'd rather fail having fun than succeed while hating the process." The album is poised to showcase Benjamin David's evolution as a producer, delving deeper into the intersection of organic and electronic soundscapes that have become the hallmark of his Mild Minds project.

The latest installment in the story waiting to be told with ‘GEMINI’ demonstrates Mild Minds' ability to craft intricate, emotionally charged compositions that resonate on both cerebral and visceral levels with his listeners.
