Insomnia
by 49th & Main

— Released 15th October 2025 on Counter Records

49th & Main follow up their debut album ‘Happy Tears’ with a late-night track "Insomnia" on Ninja Tune imprint Counter Records. "Insomnia" is a track inspired by the bewitching productions of artists such as Kaytranada, Flying Lotus, 9th Wonder, and Disclosure. It captures the hazy effects of little or no sleep, existing in a space between wonder and reality. Its triumphant sound provides the perfect end-of-summer soundtrack, much like the satisfying end credits of a movie.

Speaking on the new single, 49th & Main say, “I wanted the song to feel like you ARE seriously sleep deprived. I was running on about 3 hours of sleep in a hotel in Palm Springs and I thought it was the perfect time to finish this song. When you haven’t got enough sleep, you feel super disconnected and nothing really makes sense and everything is soft-focus but it all still kinda works? You don’t really question what’s happening in the universe around you. The drunken swing and random shouty bits really make it feel wonky and weird in a very satisfying way.”
